Blockchain technology has been at the forefront of modern conversation since its potential was unearthed about a decade ago. Within a decade, blockchain conversations have evolved from a means of exchange/trade to a solution to many problems, including economic and privacy issues. From trustless lending to games to NFTs and certificates, blockchain technology mostly through smart contracts has been able to proffer solutions to many works of life.
NEO blockchain has been active since 2014 (launched as Antshares) and rebranded to NEO in 2017. However, the technological restructuring of NEO in 2021 has put it in the top echelon of blockchain technology. In 2021, NEO launched NEO N3 and began the migration of legacy NEO and NEO tokens to the new N3 blockchain. The N3 blockchain comes with features such as Interoperability, native oracle, Neo ID, Neo file storage, Neo name service, one-block finality, best-in-class tooling, smart contracts, and multilanguage support. The pink paper team’s decision to choose NEO as one of the blockchains to build on was influenced by many of the features listed above.
During a recent AMA on the NEO SMART ECONOMY telegram group, the CEO of Pink Paper said: “Building on other chains, we have found that it is difficult to connect with different people for different services for various aspects. Still, the all-in-one service Neo blockchain provides makes our development easier, faster, and much less stressful.” He also added that users can log in through the Neo Line wallet and send and receive tips on the Neo blockchain on the pink paper platform. And that they are actively working on the crowdfunding contract and NeoFS integration.
It is safe to say that pink paper intends to use the full functionality of the blockchain in its quest to develop pink paper into a decentralized publication juggernaut. The idea behind pink paper is to create a decentralized blogging platform to improve the quality and delivery of blog posts to the public also providing anonymity in publication and crowdfunding. This would be used by any writer/ journalist and could help investigative journalists carry on with investigations without the fear of having their writeups taken down or an effective blacklisting from putting out content.
A solid and scalable blockchain like NEO will give pink papers the advantage of an easy development environment. Neo is referred to as an all-in-one blockchain because it wholistically provides solutions to a plethora of decentralization issues. Building on Neo would give the development team a playground filled with all the toys they might need such as NeoFS, NNS, Native oracle, and lots more, meaning they wouldn’t need to look for a different blockchain to accomplish certain tasks. Also, with N3’s multilanguage capability, developing pink papers on Neo would be a seem-less task because most developers are already familiar with programming languages such as C# and python, there will be no need for their developers to learn new languages to build on Neo.
