BTD is short for Buy the Dip. This is an expression used by cryptocurrency investors that further believe that a downward priced spiral is only temporary in nature. When you add an F, and create the acronym, ‘BTFD’, it stands for Buy the F’n Dip. BTFD is a bullish anthem, battle cry and also considered a way of life. The introduction of “BTFD” dates back to 2011.

Understanding the Acronym

Imagine a hypothetical situation where there’s an uptrend, it’s a Buy the Dip bull market. Everything appears to be going well, and demand is going off the charts (increasing). In this kind of market environment, dips are considered gifts. Buy the Dip are one’s best friend. But, it’s important to keep in mind that no market or crypto goes up forever.

Sometimes the asset in the market starts to drop, or go sideways. It falls out of demand, as a result leading to decrease in demand of the asset or it messes something up.
